3 Point Crossing
Biography & Highlights
Irvington Boulevard stays loud on a Friday night, and the neon sign outside 3 Point Crossing hums right over the sidewalk. You walk past the gravel parking area and pay the cover to the door guy who's holding a battered clipboard. The front room hits you with a blast of warm air and the heavy thud of a bass drum vibrating through the concrete floor.
It's an old-school Houston neighborhood joint where locals pack the room tight against the wooden stage. There aren't any VIP sections or fancy drink menus here, just cold cans of Lone Star and a bartender who doesn't waste time taking your money. The stage sits right at floor level, so if you're standing in the front row, the guitar neck's basically brushing against your jacket.
Sound bounces hard off the brick walls during the loud guitar solos, and everybody's shouting over the monitors between songs. You won't find any artisanal cocktails or pre-show lounges out back. Step outside for a minute to catch your breath by the chain link fence while the next band tunes up inside.
